Power players are what make online casinos thrive. These “high rollers” may be less in numbers compared to regular members that occasionally place a wager but the amounts betted by power players are significantly higher, and add more to the revenue stream of casino operators. With this in mind online casino operators incorporate this fact into their promotional strategies ensuring their bonuses cater for power players.
Online casinos know of two tried and tested strategies in order to attract power players. The first being a welcome bonus specially created for this type of player. Casino Tropez, for example, has such a bonus structure where new players receive a welcome bonus of 100% up to a maximum of $100. Realizing this would not attract power players as large deposits still would give them only an extra $100, no matter how large the deposit. Therefore they introduced a special welcome bonus for a player that makes a first time deposit of $1000 or more. For this a flat bonus of $500 was introduced, plus some added benefits like instant VIP membership. In order to make this extra bonus financially feasible, the wagering requirements are twice as high as for the regular welcome bonus. This may sound very high, but to power players that is no obstacle since they intend to bet high and often. From there on out the bonus systems in place are identical for both regular and power players.
The second bonus strategy is a more structured one. The percentage is the same for all players but the limit for the 100% bonus is set very high so that players that make a large first deposit also get more benefits in terms of welcome bonuses. For example Go Casino is reputed to give out some of the largest welcome bonuses in the industry. Through their bonus system which covers the first twenty deposits there is a 100% bonus given. This means that each player can reap the benefits of his deposit fairly. This attracts both types of players, as obviously power players will get a bigger bonus than regular players, and this can go up to $20000 in bonuses total. While this system is obviously the most fair to all players, regular players that make relatively small deposits should realize that they will never receive the full benefit of such a system.
Some online casinos take a spin on these options for welcome bonuses by placing no limits on the deposits that a player can receive a welcome bonus for. Typically this spin is for a limited amount of days and gives extraordinary bonuses up to 200%. This enables power players to receive extremely large bonuses but there will be a time limit to meet the wagering requirements in order to collect.
All mentioned strategies have their own pros and cons. The first will entice power players because they get special treatment; the second is the most fair to all players. In any event, the purpose of these systems are basically the same, they are put in place to draw high rollers in.
